- Why are there no ads on this site, or in any of my apps?
- Because I dislike ads.
- Doesn't this site cost money?
- Yes.
- So why not use ads to pay for it?
- See question 1. I'd rather pay out of pocket than use ads.
- But you need ads or much of the Web would go away.
- As someone who saw the Web when it was first invented, I would consider that a good thing.
- But sites I love need ads.
- That's fine for you. I don't object to anyone using ads, and I know how that market works. Enjoy.
- You use sites with ads, don't you?
- I block them. I time-shift ad-supported television so I don't have to see ads. I cut ads out of my life.
- What about a site that won't let you in unless you subscribe?
- If I see value, I subscribe. If I don't, I never return to that site again.
- You would rather walk away rather than see ads?
- Yes.
- But you would miss out on that site!
- Correct.
- But I have seen you advertise for this site or your books.
- Most people don't object to ads on their sites, so if I place an ad there I am putting it in front of people willing to see ads.
- So it's just you who won't put up with ads?
- Right.
- Was that an ad?
- Kinda ;)
